Nature Encounter

Up ahead, the path bends out of sight
Trees line the well worn trail
Yet it is narrow, but deep

I get to the bend and outstretched
a field of tall grass sways
Yet, some matted down as beds
I try not to disturb the sanctuary
and wonder how safe
the deers must feel
For no coyote, nor wolves thrive here

And the well worn trail
deep, but narrow can bear
a surefooted run
as the morning awoken
by sunlight glistening in the dew
